U.S. ARMY - ASSIGNMENTS,
DUTIES & ACHIEVEMENTS
Served eight years in the
U.S. Army and three tours in Vietnam. Assigned to Engineer, Army Security Agency and Communications commands in California, Virginia, Japan and Vietnam. Duties:
Morse Code Radio Operator, Field Communications, Claims, Administration, Research & Analysis, Awards and Decorations,
Transportation, Radio & TV Broadcaster. Achievements:
Set up the 224th Aviation Battalion (Radio Research) Headquarters & Headquarters Detachment Orderly Room, Battalion
Transit Flight Office and the Battalion Awards and Decorations Office. Established filing systems for each office, created
all manning charts, maintained all reports and wrote a guide to assist others in preparing recommendations for awards and
decorations. Increased the number of awards and decorations received by the Battalion over the previous year.
Established a fund raiser that raised $2,000 for the Vint Hill Farms Volunteer Fire Department in Virginia (1968). Entertained
soldiers quarantined during the spinal meningitis epidemic at Ft. Ord, CA (Aug '64); brought together soldiers, sailors, marines
and a group of newly commissioned Army Nurses to entertain approximately 5,000 military personnel aboard the USS Mann troop
ship while en route to Vietnam (Jul '65); hosted a disk jockey show aboard the USS Mann, and on Far East Network (FEN) radio
in Itazuke, Japan and on Armed Forces Vietnam (AFVN) radio in Saigon, Vietnam. Granted a Top Secret
security clearance with Special Intelligence access. Awarded the Bronze Star medal, Good Conduct Medal (2), Meritorious
Unit Citation (2) and Vietnam Service Ribbon with 7 campaign stars, including two for the 1968 Tet Offensive, and other commendations
for outstanding service.

RESERVE - ASSIGNMENTS, DUTIES & ACHIEVEMENTSServed twenty years in the Army Reserve.
Assigned to Army Security Agency, Civil Affairs, Reception Station, Garrison and Army Reserve Schools in the San Francisco
Bay Area and in Tacoma, WA. Duties: Platoon Sergeant, Sr. Course
Instructor, General Staff NCO, Command Retention NCO, Personnel Management NCO, Training NCO, Safety NCO, Recruiter, Career
Counselor, Awards and Decorations.Achievements:
Recruited 30 prior service ASA MOS qualified personnel and reenlisted 40 more for the 519th Army Security Agency.
Conducted recruiting clinics that generated 1,933 inquiries for the Army and the Army Reserve. Developed training and
retention clinics, created benefit pamphlets and training material, spoke at command conferences on retention and military
benefits, and assisted Congressman Paul N. (Pete) McCloskey, Jr. (Col. USMC retired) and congressional aide Thomas (Tom) Constantino (Col USMC retired) on matters pertaining to veterans
and military personnel residing in California's 11th congressional district. Awarded the Meritorious Service Medal,
the Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (2), Armed Forces Reserve Medal and other commendations
